This is another study of the red gum trees in the series. Softer hues of the red, maroons and orange palette. Using many layers, I allowed the paint beneath to almost become translucent to the next layer. When painting, it gave me a sense of the peeling bark. As you look closer you can see detail within the paint and the oil pastel accentuation the line and marks from insects that leave their dents in the wood. Fraser Iland 'K gari' Red Gums are brilliant as you venture along the sandy tracks.
