holistic art therapy - Breathing In Colour
what is holistic art therapy ?
I am an art therapy practitioner using holistic art therapy for self reflection. By using psychotherapy techniques and creative processes like painting, clay work, drawing or collage you learn to express emotions thru art for self awareness, goal setting and healing.
Art therapy is an excellent therapy which is supportive for those who that may find it challenging to express or communicate through language. I provide one-on-one sessions as well as couples, business or family groups. By using art with therapy it provides a gentle way to learn communication and express that isn't confrontational.
Art therapy was introduced as a recognised professional therapy in the 20th century but dates back as early as the late 18th century. The first art therapy graduate program was established at the University of Wisconsin in 1945, where art therapy was used to treat soldiers returning from World War II recognised with PTSD, under the guidance of Adrian Hill.
However, art therapy has been a part of all cultures and countries from the start of man. Art and expression, story telling and expressing our experiences through many creative ways is all that art therapy is.
As an art therapy practitioner I am are here to help you find your expression through the many creative outlets. Providing and guiding you with a holistic approach to self reflect towards positive well being and find peace and healing in a gentle way.
