Details of Ranellidae -
This painting is raw and imperfect. The board it is painted on gives it a sturdy feel. A ranellidae is the scientific name for a triton shell and that is what this painting represents to me. A shell is hard and precise as is the wooden board but the paint is soft and malleable. Hints of the shell shapes and curves are presented in how I have played with the paint. Oil pastel has been used to create the movement of line of a shell and how within a shell are layers and years of existance that eventually, if we are lucky, find their way to our feet at the shoreline.
