Details of Growth from Affliction -
When I painted this piece I had just gone through the loss of my mum. She was my last parent to pass on. This painting presents the pain and anguish grief holds. The mixed emotions of fear, anger and confusion. It was very healing to paint these emotions within onto the canvas but also confronting at the same time. As I painted quite harshly and with vigour the pain started to subside and a cleansing evolved.
In the bottom right had corner the symbol represents myself. A leaf in white and green shades releasing itself from the grip of loss. Even though, it is time to let myself float on gently, I am brave but fragile.
